As Belos possesses the Titan, he and the other teenagers try and fail to utilize their magic as they are exhausted and Camila gives them a pep talk. The group successfully teleports to the Head and Camila compliments him with a Cosmic Frontier reference, surprising and pleasing both him and Gus. Luz introduces Hunter and the others to her new palisman, Stringbean, and they watch her bond with the other palismen. As he watches Camila cuddle with the palismen, Willow tells Hunter he means a lot her as well and they interlock their pinkies. When Belos sees him, he pleads with Hunter to not attack him, but becomes enraged upon seeing Flapjack. As the five are about to be killed, they are saved by the Collector, who smashes Belos against a wall, to Hunter's shock. As the Collector approaches them, King arrives and informs them that the Collector wants to play Owl House and the group plays along. After the Collector ends the eclipse, Hunter regains his strength and watches as the Collector reconstructs the skull.
Flapjack's death had caused Hunter to seek revenge on Belos as Hunter continuously wanted to find and eradicate Belos for what he did and avenge Flapjack. He later discovered that he inherited Flapjack's powers and eventually erected a memorial to honor Flapjack for helping him find his own path. The two worked together, along with Willow and Gus, to free Amity and her siblings. Before facing off against Odalia and Kikimora, Luz has Gus create an illusion to make her and him switch appearances so that she would be taken to Belos instead of him.
Luz may have had the advantage now that she was armed with a staff, but the Golden Guard points out that no matter what she does, it won't end well for her; she won't attack him because she's too nice, and she can't fly away either because then she'd be leaving the rest of the palismen behind. However, neither Luz nor the Golden Guard want Kikimora to return to the palace with the palismen, and the two form a truce. The Collector takes King as his personal playmate while turning most of the Boiling Isles' residents into puppets. Showing sympathy for him, they take him on a tour of the Boiling Isles to the sites of past adventures so they can help him understand true friendship.
During his time as the Golden Guard, Hunter acted authoritative and confident in the persona, while praising and advocating for the cause of Emperor Belos. He was, however, more laid-back and easygoing than Emperor Belos, being sometimes comedic and snarky in his dialogue. Despite his high-ranking position and upper-class status, he never takes advantage of his power for personal gain, only using his authority when ordered by Emperor Belos himself. He showed deep respect and love towards Belos, yet quite a bit of hubris and egotism towards anyone else, which earned him the dislike of many of his compatriots. Lilith describes Hunter as a brat who is well renowned within the Emperor's Coven and would always receive special treatment for being a "genius teen prodigy",[10] though it's possible that Lilith exaggerated this out of jealousy. Luckily for the Golden Guard, Hexside is holding a palisman adoption day, and in the middle of the night, he uses his ship to steal the palismen, not knowing that Luz is among them. While the Golden Guard is distracted with flying his ship, Luz manages to slap a fire glyph on his back and send him flying off uncontrollably. Though he manages to get back on the ship with his staff and even restrain Luz, the human uses the grime on the ship's floor to draw an ice glyph, and the resulting icicles knock the staff away. To make matters worse, a dragon attacks, causing the ship to crash-land near Latissa.
When he believes Belos is back, he promised Flapjack he would never allow the little bird to get hurt. After Belos, while possessing him, grievously injured Flapjack, Hunter regained control. After Flapjack sacrificed himself to save Hunter's life after Belos retreated from Hunter's body, he already knew the outcome. Upon returning to the Demon Realm, Hunter has trouble dealing with Flapjack's death.
